Final Days Commission Deja vu

Thursday 7th February, 2013

More images for you to see of the final pieces coming together.
I am still working on this one.

Nearly finished just adding final touches.

This trial piece is looking good, some what better than the main piece, not better but more compact and quite cute.
Mounted and framed it will look brill. But then again I do prefer a smaller picture, I like the splash of colour.

All framed and ready to go, although I did have a larger frame in mind but didn't have a mount to hand and I do prefer to frame a picture with a mount. Looks good though.

I decided to frame the small piece and I had a mount! I really like this picture this one is my personal favourite.

I just need to deliver the framed pictures to Mark at Deja vu, and hopefully he will like them too.

All went well in the end but still watch my blog, as I have a couple of pieces I will continue with as I would like to see how they finish up and you never know Mark might like them too.

Final Days Commission Piece 'Deja vu'

FINAL DAYS NOW;-

Wednesday 6th February, 2013

Well after a very late night and an unsuceesful day, moving on to a new day
WEDNESDAY

This morning I have transferred an image onto painted and plain cotton:-
I know you can't wait to see, yes today is a good day in Alderley Edge!
Look at these;_

BRILLIANT!!

Transferred image with a lazer tran paper, that you photo copy and image , not forgetting to reverse the image if it has text or numbers on. Then you put the lazertran paper into the photo copier and copy the image on to the paper. this can then be placed onto the fabric and ggfixed with a very hot iron, not forgetting to use baking paper in between each layer.
You then peel off the backing to reveal the image on the fabric.
GOOD RESULT.

LOOK

Now to tackle the final piece.

Prepare the piece of cotton with watercolour paints adding as a wash, with grey as the main colour and a little blue added and brush strokes of black.

Now to transfer the image onto this cotton.

Now a hot iron and press down.

Looking Good even though I say it my self.

Now to applique with recycled materials, previously collected and purchased from RECYCLE, Macclesfield.
These are mainly mono print and black and white prints.

WATCH THIS SPACE.

Final Stages - Commission Piece "Deja vu"

5th February, 2013

Moving on into the final stages of the Commission piece, Today I've tried image transfer with 'mod podge' this is something I've not really had much success with, so why do it again?!!
Well each time I think, " it's going to work this time!"

Well look for yourself NOT A GOOD DAY :-

Shocking, I should have known.

Always leaves paper residue. Image transferred onto painted cotton.

This looks a little better, image transferred on to plain unprepared cotton.
Still not good enough though.

This is the best so far, but still not good enough, it still has paper residue and the cotton feels too stiff. Making stitching difficult.

I will move onto my next idea and have a think about size and which frame I have available and which to use.

Commission Piece " Deja vu"

29th January, 2013

MOVING ON -- I'm back to my Commission piece now, after a short break for deadlines at College. I've taken a picture of the piece, with paper and material that I have machine and hand stitched. I must say that the machine stitch didn't work very well and that I resorted to hand stitch. I did a variety of stitches, including:-  French Knots, Fly stitch, Straight stitch and Satin Stitch. Well that was a good experiment, so now to move on to transfering a picture onto material, that has been prepared  with watercolour paints.

The detail around the bricks looks good and I also like french knots.

Sketchbook Work - Commission

10th January, 2013

Sketchbook work continued :-

Moving on :-

Having decided that the black and white mono one was liked and with a bit of colour added.
I now need to do some more experimenting  with paper and materials.
I have prepared some pieces of cotton, slightly larger in size with watercolour wash.

Sketchbook Work - Commission

10th January, 2013

Sketchbook Work continued:-

I decided to start a bit of a design board by having a copy of the 3 storey building of Deja vu  - a photo image and also the sketched pieces of the shop front and the shop front window.

Onto a piece of prepared cotton (Watercolour wash) I attached some pieces of magazines cuttings, showing different designs and textures, into this I then did some hand stitch to enhance the  line of the pattern. This was to see if the pieces on the cotton would stand stitches over the top. They had just been fixed with some waterproof wood glue, this being as it was more flexible to work on once dried.
