Sketchbook continuing on:-
This page I decided to sketch, again in black ink and adding pieces of magazine cuttings to show the material of the upholstered furniture.
This picture is of just the shop front Deja vu.
Another page of just the Shop front but roughly drawn with added pieces of magazine cuttings, in black and white tones to give a mono effect.

Sketchbook Work - Commission
10th January, 2013
Happy New Year!
After having taken photos I did a sketch of the front of the Shop in black ink and on prepared paper (Watercolour wash)
I could add much more detail.
For this page I photocopied the original sketch, and then transferred it to my sketchbook. I then added pieces of old dress patterns to use as the lines for the detail of the sketch. On top of this I used a watercolour wash in brown shades.
I quite like this page.

Commission 'Deja vu'
Commission 'Deja vu'
After an initial visit to Deja vu and a quick chat with Mark, about my style of work, I showed him some examples of pieces of work that I was either working on or had finished. This gave him an idea of what I may produce for the commission piece.
I arranged to visit on another day more convenient to Mark, to be able to make sketches and take photos in and around the building and also some of the lovely items for sale.
These photos would be useful to refer to for detail, colour and texture.

"Commission Piece"
As part of my Foundation Degree one of the Units is to do a Commission Piece :-
In order to complete this unit successfully I am required to identify, negotiate and carry out commissioned work. To begin I researched broadly into potential opportunities and examples of commissioned work that have been undertaken by other practitioners.
I have to negotiate my own commission and carry out practical work in response to my criteria. Practical work can take any form appropriate to my current practice, clients and venues have to be selected with this in mind.I am expected to be professional and ambitious in my approach to the project. The commission must be challenging enough in light of the professional nature of the unit. There must be plenty of avenues for development and experimentation.
The theme for the commission work is "LOCATION" and can be interpreted in a way which is appropriate to my own work.
